The annual salary listed for this position includes the additional $1.50 per hour maximum security differential ($3,120 annually) for all full-time positions domiciled in a maximum-security institution.

Job Details - More reasons to love this position Contingent upon your position, you may also be eligible to receive:

- A $2.00 per hour shift differential if you are assigned to a shift that begins on or between 12:00pm (noon) and 5:00am and are employed at a 24/7 congregate care facility (i.e. institution, transition center, supervision center, or command center).
- A $1.00 per hour restrictive housing differential if you are assigned a regular post within a restrict housing/segregation unit at any facility.

The Department of Corrections currently offers a guaranteed 1% pay increase for every two years of continuous service up to 20 years! If you are transferring from another State of Missouri agency and are receiving state retention pay, please be advised that the Missouri Department of Corrections administers retention based upon your retention anniversary date. As a result, your retention pay upon transfer may differ from what you were receiving at your previous agency until you reach your applicable retention anniversary date.

Responsibilities

- Teach subject matter to adult offenders appropriate to educational background and certification by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
- Adhere to the state-approved course of study while using ingenuity and flexibility to adapt to fit the needs/abilities/conditions of pupils
- Plans/outlines classwork within prescribed limits; prepares materials for special study
- As part of the teaching team: develops/implements/evaluates plans; participates in teacher conferences/meetings/educational research projects; maintains scholastic/attendance records; orders supplies
- Confers with students regarding needs/progress/abilities and provides instruction and encouragement as needed
- Delivering offender programming to include but not limited to cognitive behavior, financial literacy, workforce skills, etc.
- Receives general supervision from Education Supervisor or designated administrator.
- Performs other related work as assigned.
