Sr. Director, Product Engineering - Modular Infrastructure - OCI Data Center Infrastructure
Summary
This leader will drive the transformation of OCI's infrastructure delivery model by shifting
engineering and construction activities from the field into manufacturing environments through
modularization, off-site assembly, skidding, and integrated product development. The
organization will partner closely with Design Engineering, Architecture, Supply Chain,
Manufacturing, Construction, and strategic OEMs to develop scalable infrastructure products
that improve deployment velocity, reduce field labor, enhance quality, and increase consistency
across OCI's global fleet.
The Product Engineering organization will own the product strategy and lifecycle for
standardized infrastructure modules, including integrated mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and
controls assemblies. This includes defining product requirements, influencing supplier
technology roadmaps, managing OEM partnerships, developing product qualification strategies,
and driving Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles
throughout the engineering lifecycle.
A key responsibility of this organization will be identifying opportunities to convert traditional
stick-built infrastructure into repeatable, modular products that can be manufactured, tested,
transported, and deployed at scale. Areas of focus include integrated cooling systems, power
distribution assemblies, skidded mechanical plants, prefabricated electrical rooms, combined
CDU/fan systems, Heat Absorption Chillers (HAC), piping assemblies, controls packages, and
other standardized infrastructure solutions that improve scalability and deployment efficiency.
Working across the entire infrastructure lifecycle, this leader will ensure modular products align
with OCI's design standards, manufacturing capabilities, construction methodologies, operational
requirements, and long-term technology roadmap. The organization will also partner with OEMs
to influence future product development, ensuring suppliers build products optimized for OCI's
unique scale, performance, and deployment needs.
The ideal candidate combines deep experience in product engineering, modular construction,
manufacturing, critical infrastructure systems, and supplier development with a demonstrated
ability to build engineering organizations and commercialize innovative infrastructure
technologies at hyperscale.
Responsibilities
Build and Lead the Function
-Establish and scale OCI's Product Engineering organization focused on modular
infrastructure and industrialized construction.- Develop the organization's strategy, operating model, product lifecycle processes, and
execution roadmap.
- Build multidisciplinary engineering teams spanning product engineering, systems
engineering, manufacturing engineering, supplier engineering, technical program
management, and product lifecycle management.
- Establish engineering processes supporting concept development, product qualification,
manufacturing readiness, deployment, sustaining engineering, and product evolution.
Modular Infrastructure Strategy
- Define and execute OCI's long-term modularization strategy across mechanical,
electrical, plumbing, structural, and controls infrastructure.
- Identify opportunities to transition field-built infrastructure into standardized modular
products.
- Develop reusable product platforms that enable consistent deployment across OCI's
global data center portfolio.
- Establish product architectures that improve scalability, reduce deployment timelines,
and simplify installation and commissioning.
- Continuously evaluate emerging modular technologies and manufacturing capabilities to
improve deployment efficiency.
Product Engineering & Lifecycle Management
- Own the engineering lifecycle for OCI's modular infrastructure product portfolio.
- Define product requirements, technical specifications, validation plans, qualification
criteria, lifecycle management strategies, and product roadmaps.
-Lead cross-functional product development from concept through production deployment
and sustaining engineering.
- Ensure products meet OCI requirements for performance, reliability, manufacturability,
serviceability, and lifecycle cost.
- Partner with Design Engineering to integrate standardized products into future data center
design platforms.
OEM Partnerships & Supplier Development
- Develop strategic engineering partnerships with OEMs, contract manufacturers, and
technology suppliers.
- Influence supplier product roadmaps to align with OCI's long-term infrastructure
strategy.
- Lead joint product development initiatives that deliver differentiated infrastructure
solutions.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and commercial products for adoption into OCI's
modular infrastructure portfolio.
- Establish engineering engagement models supporting product qualification, validation,
manufacturing readiness, and continuous improvement.
Off-Site Manufacturing & Industrialized Construction
- Lead OCI's strategy for off-site assembly and factory-built infrastructure.
- Develop engineering standards supporting Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for
Assembly (DFA), and Design for Off-Site Manufacturing (DfOSM).
- Partner with manufacturing organizations to optimize factory integration, quality,
logistics, and deployment sequencing.
- Increase factory acceptance testing and pre-integrated systems to reduce field
commissioning and startup activities.
- **Drive initiatives that improve installation productivity while reducin...
