Job Title: Environmental Health and Safety Specialist (Contract)

Job Description

This contract Environmental Health and Safety Specialist role offers the opportunity to support a highly regulated manufacturing operation in Bridgeton by assisting the primary EHS lead with overflow tasks. You will help ensure a safe, compliant workplace while gaining broad exposure to FDA-regulated animal drug manufacturing and the full spectrum of health, safety, and environmental activities.

Responsibilities

+ Support the primary Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) lead with day-to-day health and safety activities and overflow tasks in a regulated manufacturing environment.

+ Assist in maintaining compliance with applicable safety regulations, internal policies, and industry standards within an FDA-regulated manufacturing setting.

+ Contribute to the development, implementation, and maintenance of health and safety programs, procedures, and documentation to support regulatory compliance.

+ Help monitor and promote safe work practices on the manufacturing floor, identifying potential hazards and communicating corrective actions.

+ Assist with health and safety inspections, audits, and follow-up activities to ensure issues are documented and addressed in a timely manner.

+ Support incident reporting and basic investigation activities, helping to track and document safety events and corrective actions.

+ Collaborate with manufacturing personnel and leadership to reinforce a strong safety culture and encourage continuous improvement in EHS performance.

+ Provide general EHS support related to environmental considerations, as needed, in coordination with the main EHS lead.

Essential Skills

+ At least 5 years of experience in safety or health and safety roles.

+ Hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment.

+ Experience in regulated manufacturing operations.

+ Strong knowledge of health and safety principles, practices, and regulatory compliance requirements.

+ Ability to work effectively in a small EHS team, supporting a primary EHS leader with overflow tasks.

+ Bachelors degree required.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience working in FDA-regulated environments is a plus.

+ Environmental exposure to environmental compliance is a plus.

+ Experience in pharmaceutical, animal health, or related drug manufacturing environments is beneficial.

+ Strong communication and collaboration skills to work closely with operations and leadership.

+ Ability to adapt quickly and take on a wide range of EHS responsibilities in a dynamic setting.

Work Environment

This role is based on-site in a regulated animal drug manufacturing facility in Bridgeton, working closely with a single EHS leader in a small, highly collaborative team structure. You will operate in a production environment where strict quality and safety standards apply, and you will gain significant exposure to FDA-regulated processes and compliance requirements. The position offers a hands-on, fast-paced setting with broad visibility across operations and the potential for the contract to evolve into a longer-term opportunity based on performance and business needs.

This is a Contract position based out of Bridgeton, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
