Lead Director - Cloud & Platform Engineering (Health100)
Summary
Position Summary
The Lead Director - Cloud and Platform Engineering is responsible for shaping and executing the multi-cloud platform engineering strategy for Health100 and PCW across Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Microsoft Azure. Drawing on a foundation of hands-on engineering experience, this leader sets the technical direction and multi-year roadmap for cloud platforms while building the organization, engineering practices, and operating model required to deliver at enterprise scale.
The role provides leadership across cloud architecture, platform engineering, automation, and production readiness, ensuring strategy translates into engineered capabilities that are scalable, resilient, secure, observable, and cost effective. This leader will navigate complex technical and business trade-offs, set engineering priorities, and drive modernization while maintaining accountability for execution and measurable outcomes.
Success requires strong partnerships across Platform Engineering, DevOps/Operations, Production SRE, Network, Cybersecurity, Identity, Data, Enterprise Architecture, and Application Engineering. The leader will develop technical talent, establish clear ownership and engineering standards, and influence senior technology leaders on cloud strategy, architecture, investment, and modernization priorities.
Role Responsibilities:
Strategy, Roadmaps & Portfolio Delivery
+ Own the multi-cloud platform engineering strategy and roadmap for Health100 and PCW across GCP, AWS, and Azure.
+ Translate business priorities, application demand, resiliency requirements, and enterprise standards into sequenced engineering initiatives, balancing near-term delivery with platform modernization, technical debt reduction, and capability development.
+ Establish measurable outcomes and provide executive-level visibility into roadmap progress, platform adoption, reliability, delivery predictability, automation, cost efficiency, risks, trade-offs, and investment requirements.
Cloud Architecture, Engineering & Implementation
+ Lead the architecture, engineering, implementation, and lifecycle management of enterprise cloud platforms across GCP, AWS, and Azure.
+ Drive engineering of cloud foundations, networking, identity, security, Kubernetes, data services, shared services, and observability, using reusable reference architectures and engineering patterns to accelerate application onboarding.
+ Ensure architecture incorporates availability, multi-region resiliency, disaster recovery, scalability, performance, maintainability, security, and cost requirements from the outset.
+ Lead technical design and engineering reviews through production readiness, determining where cloud-native services or enterprise technologies such as Palo Alto Networks, F5, and Infoblox best meet business and technical requirements.
Engineering Execution & Delivery Management
+ Convert architecture and roadmap priorities into executable delivery plans and drive delivery across internal engineering teams, cloud providers, and strategic partners, actively managing dependencies, blockers, and technical risk.
+ Ensure engineering produces deployable infrastructure, tested automation, documentation, support models, and measurable service outcomes, not architecture artifacts alone.
+ Establish repeatable release and environment-promotion practices and use delivery metrics to identify schedule, capacity, and quality risks requiring corrective action.
Infrastructure as Code, Automation & Platform Enablement
+ Establish an automation-first engineering model using Terraform, Infrastructure as Code, policy as code, CI/CD, reusable modules, and automated validation.
+ Develop self-service platform capabilities and reusable engineering patterns that reduce manual provisioning, improve consistency, and accelerate application delivery.
+ Partner with DevOps/Operations to establish deployment workflows, configuration standards, change controls, environment promotion, and effective operational handoffs.
Production SRE Partnership & Service Reliability
+ Partner with Production SRE throughout architecture and engineering, not only after deployment, to ensure platform services are designed for reliable production operation.
+ Establish production-readiness standards encompassing SLOs and SLIs, observability, capacity and performance, recovery, disaster recovery, runbooks, ownership, escalation, and support requirements.
+ Use incidents, reliability trends, and operational feedback to drive permanent corrective actions and roadmap improvements.
Cross-Functional Technical Leadership
+ Partner across Network Engineering, Cybersecurity, Identity, Enterprise Architecture, Application Engineering, Data, DevOps/Operations, Production SRE, cloud providers, and strategic partners to deliver integrated platform capabilities.
+ Advise senior leaders on cloud architecture, engineering priorities, modernization, delivery sequencing, and technology investments, leading decisions where cloud-provider capabilities, enterprise controls, and application requirements create competing priorities.
+ Serve as an escalation point for complex engineering and delivery issues spanning platforms, providers, or organizational boundaries.
Governance, Security & Financial Management
+ Embed security, compliance, identity, network segmentation, data protection, and policy requirements into reusable engineering patterns and governance that enables delivery without bypassing enterprise controls.
+ Partner with FinOps and business stakeholders on cloud consumption forecasting, cost transparency, unit economics, optimization, and capacity planning.
+ Maintain lifecycle strategies addressing platform upgrades, deprecation, technical debt, and vendor dependencies.
Leadership & Capability Development
+ Build and lead a cloud platform engineering organization focused on architecture quality, engineering rigor, clear accountability, and dependable delivery while developing technical leaders across cloud platforms and shared capabilities.
+ Establish engineering standards, design patterns, playbooks, documentation, and review mechanisms that improve consistency and accountability.
+ Develop workforce, sourcing, and strategic partner approaches aligned with the Health100 and PCW roadmaps.
Required Qualifications
+ 10+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, infrastructure engineering, DevOps, SRE or related disciplines.
+ 5+ years of technology leadership, engineering management, architecture leadership or equivalent large-scale technical leadership.
+ 7+ years of deep engineering experience in at l...
