Overview

_Barnes-Jewish Hospital_ at Washington University Medical Center is the largest hospital in Missouri and is ranked as one of the nation's top hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. Barnes-Jewish Hospital's staff is composed of full-time academic faculty and community physicians of Washington University School of Medicine, supported by a house staff of residents, interns, fellows and other medical professionals. Facilities Engineering maintains 6 million square foot of facilities dedicated to clinical and academic functions. Facilities Engineering is comprised of 150 professionals, including engineers, MEP mechanics, building finishes and support staff. The Facilities and Engineering department at Barnes Jewish Hospital is a progressive, innovative department which stresses employee involvement, continued education/training and opportunities for advancement. Consistent customer and staff satisfaction surveys reflect a continuous rating in the upper 90% and staff responses to ''intent to continue employment at BJH'' rating in the upper 90%.

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

Manage and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in maintaining the physical plant and all other duties as required. Assist Manager in the Development of Policies and Procedures, operating budget, and departmental goals. Responsible for staff daily work assignment and productivity.

Responsibilities

+ Identifies and recommends optimal staffing levels necessary to effectively manage work unit's services.

+ Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.

+ Leads, directs and organizes assigned departments.

+ Plans, schedules, and coordinates repairs and utility outages. Plans and coordinates new equipment installations.

+ Ensures all aspects of preventative maintenance are completed on schedule and according to department standards and procedures.

+ Inspects the building, facilities and grounds to identify maintenance and repair needs.

+ May participate in the development of departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets and having direct responsibility for adhering to those goals. This includes responding to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.

Minimum Requirements

Education

+ High School Diploma or GED

Experience

+ 5-10 years

Supervisor Experience

+ < 2 years

Licenses & Certifications

+ Cert/Lic in Area of Expertise
