So, what will you be doing as a Local Driver?
SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
• Demonstrate ability to understand job requirements and complete training
• Demonstrate good driving skills for tractor/trailer • Maintain ability to be insured with Leggett motor carrier insurance provider • Maintain Class A CDL and good driving record • Perform clerical duties as required • Demonstrate care and consideration for pedestrians, truck/trailers and building structures • Demonstrate safe work practices and use appropriate PPE • Demonstrate the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize job responsibilities • Good communication skills both verbal and written • Regular attendance • Use quall com system as required
• Work effectively with co-workers, supervision, and management, or work unsupervised • Follow instruction
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Exit and enter tractor over 30 times each shift • Hook/unhook trailer from tractor using hand crank • Walk, sit and climb as needed • Good hearing and vision
• Work in extreme weather conditions of cold and heat
JOB DUTIES:
• Transport merchandise between L&P branches and vendors as needed. • Unhook trailers, verify load is complete, hook up trailers. • Memorize location of L&P facilities, dock locations, and locations to deliver wire or other goods. • Communicate with other drivers as needed. • Coordinate and prioritize the shuffle of trailers. • Perform daily inspection of trailers, complete log, notify supervisor of any safety issues needing corrected. • Notify Supervision of product that does not meet production specifications. • Provide input to supervision concerning equipment issues.
• Keep tractor clean and maintained, follow 6S procedures. • Work overtime as needed. • Train new employees. • Notify Supervisor of any driving violations that could affect CDL. • Participate in all L & P initiatives, ISO 9001:2015, TPM, Continuous Improvement, ECO, etc. • Perform other duties or tasks as assigned. • Report all secondary driving to not exceed allowable daily driving time by DOT.
This is an hourly position from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm
Successful candidates must pass a drug screen.
