The Role
The Lead Product Manager - Ethernet Network owns the strategy, roadmap, delivery, go-to-market execution, and lifecycle performance of Lumen's Ethernet network product. This role serves as the accountable business voice for the product within its Agile Release Train (ART), translating customer needs, market opportunities, product-line priorities, and network strategy into a clear, prioritized feature backlog that engineering teams can execute. The Lead Product Manager partners across architecture, engineering, operations, sales, marketing, finance, legal, and regulatory teams to evolve the Ethernet network, improve customer outcomes, and deliver sustainable revenue and margin growth. The role requires strong technical and commercial judgment, disciplined product leadership, and hands-on Agile Product Manager accountability within Lumen's SAFe operating model.
The Main Responsibilities
+ Own the Ethernet network product vision, strategy, roadmap, objectives, and key results across the full lifecycle-from concept and investment through launch, growth, optimization, and retirement.
+ Act as the voice of the customer by analyzing customer needs, market trends, competitive alternatives, sales insights, and operational data to define differentiated product capabilities and priorities.
+ Develop and maintain a 12-24 month product roadmap aligned with Lumen's network evolution, business strategy, transformation priorities, and related product portfolios.
+ Own, maintain, and prioritize the product's feature backlog, ensuring features have clear business outcomes, requirements, acceptance criteria, dependencies, and readiness for engineering execution.
+ Write and prioritize features in close partnership with Product Owners, System Architects, engineering teams, and other delivery partners; decompose higher-level capabilities and strategic direction into executable increments of value.
+ Represent the product in SAFe planning and delivery activities, including PI Planning, roadmap and vision reviews, backlog refinement, PO Sync, System Demos, and outcome reviews.
+ Track and manage product-level risks, assumptions, dependencies, impediments, and trade-offs in Jira, escalating decisions that require broader product-line or leadership alignment.
+ Partner with Technical Program Managers and delivery leaders to coordinate cross-team dependencies and maintain transparency on scope, sequencing, milestones, and delivery health.
+ Lead product-level business planning, including business cases, pricing inputs, investment and resource needs, revenue and margin opportunities, and ongoing measurement of ROI, KPIs, OKRs, and backlog health.
+ Coordinate go-to-market and launch readiness across engineering, network operations, marketing, sales, customer success, support, finance, legal, and regulatory stakeholders.
+ Enable sales and solution teams with clear positioning, customer benefits, competitive differentiation, roadmap guidance, and assessment of qualified feature or customization requests.
+ Maintain accurate, current product documentation and communications, and provide clear updates on strategy, roadmap, delivery progress, product performance, and decisions.
+ Build subject-matter expertise in Ethernet services, network capabilities, customer use cases, and the applicable competitive and regulatory environment.
+ Influence and align cross-functional teams without direct authority, using data, customer insight, and sound product judgment to drive decisions and accountability.
What We Look For in a Candidate
+ Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent education and relevant experience.
+ Five or more years of experience in product management, technical product ownership, or a related discipline within telecommunications, networking, software, platform, or technology services.
+ Demonstrated end-to-end ownership of a product or major feature area, including strategy, roadmap development, requirements, delivery, launch, and performance management.
+ Experience translating customer and business needs into well-defined features, requirements, and acceptance criteria in partnership with engineering teams.
+ Working knowledge of Ethernet services and network technologies, with the technical aptitude to evaluate product, platform, API, operational, and architectural trade-offs.
+ Experience operating in an Agile or SAFe delivery environment, including backlog prioritization, PI Planning, and cross-functional delivery coordination.
+ Demonstrated ability to use customer insight, market analysis, financial data, and performance metrics to make product investment and prioritization decisions.
+ Experience developing business cases and supporting pricing, go-to-market, launch-readiness, and sales-enablement activities.
+ Strong written, verbal, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, business partners, and senior leaders.
+ Proven ability to lead through influence, manage competing priorities, resolve ambiguity, and deliver results in a fast-paced matrixed organization.
+ Hands-on proficiency with Jira and Microsoft Excel; familiarity with APIs, product analytics, and roadmap or portfolio-management tools is preferred.
