Job Summary:

The Childcare Specialist leads the daily operations of the Family Ministries Nursery, providing safe, structured, and nurturing care for children ages six months through kindergarten whose parents or guardians are at the Family Shelter. This role ensures a consistent, healing-centered environment where children are cared for with dignity, stability, and Christ-centered love while supporting the overall mission of City Union Mission.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities Include:

Maintain a safe, clean, and developmentally appropriate environment with consistent supervision and clear routines
Plan and manage nursery schedules, including structured activities, rest times, and transitions throughout the day
Order, organize, and maintain nursery supplies, materials, and equipment
Direct, supervise, and support staff, volunteers, and program participants assigned to the nursery
Fill in for other Center roles as needed

Experience Requirements

To possess sound Biblical character and refrain from engaging in an immoral lifestyle that could undermine or disrupt your testimony as a follower of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
To be a member in good standing of a recognized Protestant, evangelical church.
Agree and abide within the City Union Mission faith statement.
To be genuinely committed to serving the poor and homeless, as expressed in the mission statement of City Union Mission.
To be sober-minded, free from the influence of alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs, or any substance that could cloud judgment or distract from a Christian-principled ministry.
