Job Details - More reasons to love this position Contingent upon your position, you may also be eligible to receive:

- A $2.00 per hour shift differential if you are assigned to a shift that begins on or between 12:00pm (noon) and 5:00am and are employed at a 24/7 congregate care facility (i.e. institution, transition center, supervision center, or command center).
- A $0.75 per hour medium security or $1.50 maximum security differential if you work full-time at a qualifying facility.
- A $1.00 per hour restrictive housing differential if you are assigned a regular post within a restrict housing/segregation unit at any facility.

The Department of Corrections currently offers a guaranteed 1% pay increase for every two years of continuous service up to 20 years! If you are transferring from another State of Missouri agency and are receiving state retention pay, please be advised that the Missouri Department of Corrections administers retention based upon your retention anniversary date. As a result, your retention pay upon transfer may differ from what you were receiving at your previous agency until you reach your applicable retention anniversary date.

Responsibilities

- Investigates offender's home/work/social environments for circuit courts/Parole Board; collects/verifies/evaluates data; incorporates into reports and records; assesses needs/risk levels to determine appropriate supervision strategies to ensure effective offender management/public safety; and submits reports thereof to designated legal authorities
- Contacts offenders in their homes, places of employment or confinement and counsels them regarding personal/adjustment problems; attends court to receive court assignments/make reports
- Assists in vocational/educational/social adjustment planning for assigned offenders; cooperates with public /private agencies and law enforcement agencies; investigates offender violations; takes appropriate action including issuance of a warrants
- Prepares statistical reports of activities; administers/observes breathalyzer/urinalysis testing; assists in special investigations/research projects/other activities; serves on committees/task forces within the Department and community; performs other related work as assigned; as employee becomes more experienced/demonstrates proficiency, levels of supervision become more general
- Possession of a valid vehicle operator’s license
- Successful completion of safety training including defensive tactics and the ability to re-qualify annually.
