Job Description Associated Electric Cooperative, Inc. is currently seeking students in a safety curriculum to fill an internship in the Environment, Health, and Safety Department (EH&S) at the Thomas Hill Energy Center in Clifton Hill, Missouri and New Madrid Power Plant in Marston, Missouri. This is a paid internship and may be available for cooperative credit. This position offers employment during summer , with the opportunity to continue on a part time basis during the fall and spring semesters. Normal working days are Monday through Friday.
Qualified applicants will be currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Science for Physical Education, or a related applied science field, and have successfully completed two (2) years of work towards a bachelor'ss degree. We are seeking an individual with strong computer skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong statistical and analytical background. ExExperiencen Microsoft ShShare Points desired. The Safety Intern may be required to travel to plants for work assignments.
As part of the Environmental, Health, and Safety Department (EH&S), these positions may include the following areas:
· Assist in the PM and Emergency Response
· Equipment assessment to include, but not limited to point of use equipment
· EH&S website maintenance and ShaShare Pointvelopment
· Manipulation and analysis of large data sets using proprietary software and Microsoft products
· Audit of general plant safety

Responsibilities

6. maintain dental or medical records
7. make presentations on health or medical issues
8. conduct evaluations of worker exposure to radiation or noise
9. recommend measures to ensure maximum employee protection
10. use knowledge of investigation techniques
11. use cost benefit analysis techniques
12. use pollution control techniques
13. understand engineering data or reports
14. use knowledge of materials testing procedures
15. set up or calibrate laboratory equipment
16. test air quality, noise, temperature, or radiation
17. use chemical testing or analysis procedures
18. use scientific research methodology
19. analyze effectiveness of safety systems or procedures
20. develop safety regulations
21. interpret employee's medical evaluations
22. prepare safety reports
23. use hazardous materials information
24. collect samples for testing
25. calibrate or adjust electronic equipment or instruments to specification
26. evaluate manufacturing or processing systems
27. perform safety inspections in industrial, manufacturing or repair setting
