Pricing Analyst Material Cost Estimator

Job Description

The Pricing Analyst Material Cost Estimator plays a key role within the Supply Chain organization, supporting complex proposals for defense-related programs. This position focuses on developing material costing strategies, generating costed bills of materials, building material bases of estimate, and delivering clear, data-driven analysis to support competitive and compliant bids. The role partners closely with proposal and program management teams to align material cost estimates with overall bid strategy and ensure submissions meet internal and external requirements. The position may be performed on-site or remotely, offering flexibility while working with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

+ Conduct detailed material cost estimating and analyze price reasonableness for proposal submissions.

+ Prepare comprehensive internal supporting documentation using tools such as Deltek Costpoint, IBM Cognos, Microsoft Excel, and Deltek ProPricer.

+ Collaborate with purchasing and engineering teams to optimize material cost estimates and determine effective supplier quoting strategies.

+ Generate accurate and well-supported material bases of estimate for proposal submittals.

+ Support contract negotiations by providing updated cost estimates and required cost or pricing data disclosures.

+ After contract award, deliver clear artifacts to program execution teams that detail the awarded material basis of estimate by part number.

+ Develop, organize, and maintain robust cost traceability linking supplier quotes, historical data, and pricing rationale to proposal submissions for audit readiness and internal transparency.

+ Measure target costs against proposal costs and work with Supply Chain Management to identify methods to meet cost targets.

+ Collaborate with other functional areas and present material estimates to executive-level management as needed.

+ Support, communicate, and uphold the mission, values, and culture of the company in all activities.

+ Maintain professional, collaborative relationships with internal customers and stakeholders.

+ Assist department staff with various analyses within the specific area of material cost estimating and pricing.

+ Provide routine status updates and track outstanding actions and issues related to proposals and cost estimates.

+ Identify creative ways to improve purchasing and estimating processes to better contribute to organizational goals.

+ Review requests for proposals (RFPs) to identify requirements and assist the proposal team in developing clear, compliant responses.

+ Analyze new estimates against previous cost experience and recommend adjustments to improve accuracy and competitiveness.

+ Provide guidance to teams and management in executing new business cost proposals, including counsel on RFP, FAR, CAS, and disclosure compliance issues.

+ Establish and coordinate proposal schedules, monitor progress, escalate issues when necessary, and develop cost/price models.

+ Assist with pricing cost narratives, price strategies, risk assessments, business case analyses, and the preparation and presentation of management briefings.

Essential Skills

+ Bachelor's degree in Finance, Supply Chain, Data Science, Business, or a related field.

+ Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in pricing analysis, material cost estimating, or a similar role.

+ Experience in Department of Defense (DoD) procurement, material planning, or estimating within an aerospace or defense production environment.

+ Proficiency with ERP systems and strong data analysis capabilities.

+ Familiarity with material estimating and proposal processes in a defense industry context.

+ Demonstrated knowledge of supply chain management tools and procedures, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, and make sound decisions.

+ Understanding of DoD estimating requirements, including compliance considerations.

+ Strong communication skills to effectively interact with stakeholders and cross-functional teams.

+ Proven ability in estimation and pricing analysis within the defense industry.

+ Continuous improvement mindset focused on cost reduction and process enhancement.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience using Deltek Costpoint, IBM Cognos, Microsoft Excel, and Deltek ProPricer for cost estimating and analysis.

+ Background in developing cost/price models and supporting business case analysis.

+ Ability to interpret and provide guidance on RFP, FAR, CAS, and related disclosure compliance issues.

+ Experience preparing pricing cost narratives, price strategies, and risk assessments for management review.

+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and audit readiness.

+ Ability to present complex cost and pricing information clearly to executive-level management.

+ Collaborative mindset with a focus on building strong internal relationships across supply chain, engineering, and program management.

This is a Permanent position based out of Bridgeton, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $79919.00 - $103895.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible for: annual performance-based bonuses, equity awards, and overtime pay (for non-exempt employees as applicable.
