Description
A.T. Still University (ATSU) is seeking a full-time, non-exempt Library Assistant on the Kirksville, Missouri campus. The Library Assistant will provide public service functions as assigned, serve as a 3D printing technician, maintains library equipment (copiers, computers, printers, etc.), and serves as an information resource for campus visitors/patrons. This position reports to the Library Operations & Advanced Technology Services Manager. The Library Assistant must be flexible with the work schedule; some weekends or evenings.
Major Job Duties:
+ Assist students and other library patrons with library resources and services information needs, including technology/troubleshooting questions; opening/closing the library (security).
+ Assists with the whole 3D printing process: starting jobs on 3d printers, monitoring the 3D printers through their print cycles, switching models to the 3D bath, putting models out to dry, packaging models for delivery to customers, and communicating when the models are ready for pickup. They also perform basic troubleshooting on the machines when an error is thrown. Checks books, OTM tables, projectors, easels, SAAD lamps, and media materials in and out using the automated circulation system.
+ Maintains a petty cash drawer and provides directional information to patrons.
+ Answers incoming telephone calls, transfers calls or takes messages, assists patrons needing information from the reserve book collection, and maintains printers and photocopiers.
+ Updates front desk operation manual as needed.
+ Monitors office supply cabinet and kitchen supplies.
+ Monitors room reservation schedule.
+ Works with library purchasing and ILL to track purchases and MOBIUS orders.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
Secondary Job Duties :
+ Works with the library operations manager to organize library events.
+ Reshelves books and periodicals.
+ Shifts periodicals or books to allow space for new materials.
+ Researches and updates assorted book lists as assigned. (i.e., reserve books, Wiley e-books).
+ Updates 3D LibGuide and Anatomy LibGuide.
+ Stocks copiers and printers.
+ Assists students with faxes or scanning needs.
+ Empty recycling bins, do light housekeeping, and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Skills & Experience
+ A high school diploma is required; some college is preferred.
+ 1-2 years of work experience; library experience is highly desired.
+ Familiarity with manipulating files in Excel, Word, Adobe, PowerPoint, and Canva.
+ Excellent writing and communication skills.
+ Well-organized, dependable, flexible, and good interpersonal skills.
+ Works well in a team environment.
+ Able to lift 25 lbs.
+ Some knowledge of 3D printing; willing to train.
+ Facility with learning technology programs quickly.
+ Able to work under minimal supervision.
