Job Summary and Qualifications

What you will do in this role:

+ The role of the OR Tech III is to assist the OR team in the care of patients, equipment and supplies

+ The OR Tech III provides care for adolescent patients between 12 to 17 years of age; adult patients between 18 to 64 years; and geriatric patients 65 years and older.

+ The surgical technologist in the first scrub role handles the instruments, supplies and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure.

+ The OR Tech III understands the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon.

+ The OR Tech III has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field.

+ When the OR Tech III is in the second scrub role they assist the surgeon and/or surgical assistant during the operative procedure by carrying out tasks including sponging, suctioning, cutting suture, holding retractors and manipulating the endoscopic camera.

What qualifications you will need:

+ Completion of a Surgical Technician program or Surgical Technician training with evidence of experience in the past three years or a licensed healthcare provider with 1 year operating room experience.

+ Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) from National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) required upon hire .

+ Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association or American Red Cross required upon hire.

+ Two years prior experience in a similar size facility with similar services provided.

+ Must be competent to perform as lead in all the following specialty areas: Robotic, Total Joints, Neuro/Spine, Burn and Vascular Surgery.
