WSP is currently initiating a search for an Entry-Level Substation Electrical Engineer for our Saint Louis, MO office.

This Opportunity

The Entry Level Substation Electrical Engineer will share responsibility with the rest of the department to produce a product consistent with WSP's mission statement and our culture. They are expected to support the department in achieving the goals of the department, maintain WSP's high-quality standards, promote internal teamwork and meet the needs of our clients.

Your Impact

+ Perform the detailed design of low to extra-high voltage substations including, but not limited to:

+ One-line diagrams

+ Schematics

+ Wiring diagrams

+ SCADA

+ Communications

+ Station physical layouts

+ Sections/Elevations

+ Cable and conduit plans and details

+ Ground grid design and details

+ Foundation plans and details

+ Structural plans and details

+ Control enclosure design and details

+ Lightning protection plans

+ Yard lighting plans

+ Bills of Materials

+ Site visits

+ Support QA/QC for deliverables to clients.

+ Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

+ Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

+ Shall learn, understand, and adhere to client standards and processes while working individually or within a team to complete complex and technically challenging designs.

+ The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of transmission line design for new lines, relocations, upgrades, and fiber optic additions.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

+ BSEE (BS Electrical Engineering) or BSEET (BS Electrical Engineering Technology) degree, from an accredited university preferably with a power option.

+ 0-1 years of experience .

+ Strong knowledge and understanding of electrical engineering to build on.

+ Candidates should enjoy living in the St Louis area, or have a desire and ability to relocate there with minimal assistance.

+ Must have a strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel.

+ Must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship.

+ Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

+ Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

+ At least three months of relevant electrical engineering work experience; could be on an internship or co-op basis

+ Minimum 3.0 Grade Point Average (GPA)

+ Knowledge of electrical utility substations and familiarity with substation design

+ Engineer In Training certificate (EIT) or passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
