Front of House Position
Summary
Hours: Thursday - Sunday
6:30 am - 2:30 pm with a half hour unpaid break
28 Hours a week Pay: $17 hour
Definition:
Under the supervision of the Uhuru Bakery Manager, the Front of House (FOH) Associate is the first point of contact for customers and plays a key role in creating a welcoming and positive experience. This position is responsible for customer service, representing the values of Uhuru Bakery & Cafe, handling transactions, serving pastries, coffee and other quick food items, resolving customer issues and ensuring the front area remains organized and inviting.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
Customer Service

Deliver friendly, efficient service in a fast-paced environment.

Set up and break down the front of the house, including getting food out.

Actively engages with the public, gets to know customers by name. Signs people up for getting information on Black Power Blueprint, Uhuru Bakery and events, and volunteering.
Sales & Transactions

Take accurate customer orders in person.

Operate the POS (Point of Sale) system efficiently and accurately.
Product Handling & Presentation

Safely remove pastries from display cases and package them properly, serve drinks, soups

Maintain clean, stocked, and visually appealing display areas.

Leads and contributes to positive, safe and effective work environment of all volunteers

Works collaboratively, team player

ServSafe Food Handlers Certification (required).

Familiarity with (or ability to learn) POS systems.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
