Job Description

The Maintenance Group Leader oversees skilled trades employees within a fast-paced manufacturing environment at the General Motors Wentzville plant. This role is responsible for leading daily maintenance operations, supporting equipment reliability, driving safety initiatives, and ensuring operational efficiency.

Job Responsibilities

+ Lead, coach, and develop skilled trades employees to support safety, productivity, and performance goals

+ Plan and direct daily maintenance activities, including troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance

+ Conduct team meetings and communicate daily priorities and operational updates

+ Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with company and plant safety standards

+ Support hiring, training, employee development, and performance management activities

+ Collaborate with plant leadership and production teams to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability

+ Monitor maintenance performance metrics, labor utilization, and operational trends to support continuous improvement

+ Ensure maintenance work is completed efficiently and in accordance with company procedures and client expectations

Qualifications

+ Requires at least 2 years of experience in manufacturing maintenance

+ Requires 1-2 years of experience in a management role of union employees

+ Must be able to work evenings

+ Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

+ Ability to manage as part of a larger team or manage function independently, without direct supervision

+ The ability to multi-task is a must
