PRN Registered Nurse (RN) – South Providence Urgent Care – Columbia, MO
Summary
DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION
· Initial assessment and triage of patients who present to Mizzou Urgent Care
· Monitor physiological conditions of patients and give timely notification to physician regarding changes in patient status.
· Prepare patients and equipment/supplies for procedures.
· Provide nursing care to patients according to departmental and critical care nursing standards.
· Assists physician during procedures.
· Administer intravenous and oral medications to patients. Initiates intravenous therapy as indicated, utilizing aseptic technique with appropriate IV catheter and fluid. Ensures that medication is labeled appropriately.
· Advocate for the patient at all stages of the care continuum.
· Educate patients and families about the patient's illness, their care, and treatment plan.
· Participate in life-saving measures and aid in transfer of patients via EMS.
· May complete unit/department specific duties as outlined in department documents.
Experience Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· One (1) year of nursing experience in acute care, urgent care, or emergency room setting.
· Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
