Fabrication-Machine Operator
Summary
The Fabricator position is a crucial position in the manufacturing process and is therefore expected to produce high-quality work while keeping to production timelines.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches or product specifications to determine sequence and methods of fabricating, assembling and installing sheet metal products
- Lay out and mark dimensions and reference lines on material, using scribers, dividers, squares and rulers, applying knowledge of shop mathematics and layout techniques to develop and trace patterns of products or parts using templates
- Set up and operate fabricating machines, such as shears, brakes, presses, forming rolls and to cut, bend, punch or straighten materials
- Grind, debur, buff and smooth sheet metal surfaces, using hand tools and portable power tools
- Install assemblies in supportive framework according to blueprints, using hand tools, power tools and lifting/handling devices
- Inspect assemblies and installation for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, scales, dial indicators, gauges and micrometers
- Other job duties as assigned

· Must be able to read a tape measure and understand measurements
· Must be able to recognize basic weld symbols on a drawing
· Problem Solving/ Analysis
· Structural and/or equivalent finite element analysis software
· Experience in working with multiple discipline projects
· Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Suite
· Ability to write, speak, and understand English
· Ability to read technical drawings and plans as instruction
· Ability to bend, stoop, kneel
· Ability to read and utilize a tape measure and measurement systems
· Working knowledge of the basic properties of metal
· Broad knowledge of warehouse/manufacturing safety protocols
· Ability to work overtime as needed to include additional hours per day or additional days per work week
· Ability to work in a not climate controlled environment
· Must comply with Personal Protective Equipment guidelines to include but not limited to hardhat, steel toed shoes, uniform, gloves, safety glasses, masks (as required), etc.
· Must be able to lift, push, pull and carry up to 50 pounds individually, team lifting/mechanical techniques for any work processes that exceed 51 pounds
· Must be able to work in a noisy work environment (hearing protection available)
· Must be able to work in a dusty work environment (masks available)
