Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support key accounting and cost activities for a manufacturing operation in Mount Vernon, Missouri. This Long-term Contract position offers the opportunity to contribute to financial accuracy, inventory analysis, and product cost oversight in a hands-on environment. The role will work across core accounting functions while helping maintain reliable reporting, asset records, and margin visibility for the site.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare recurring accounting entries for items such as depreciation, insurance, and tax-related expenses tied to the facility.

- Partner with divisional teams to support the upkeep of standard costing data, including routing structures and burden rates.

- Contribute to audit readiness by gathering documentation and assisting with both internal reviews and external audit requests.

- Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies to support accurate financial reporting.

- Administer fixed asset records for the site, ensuring asset activity is properly tracked and maintained.

- Support cost analysis for existing products as well as the setup and evaluation of costing for new product introductions.

- Monitor product profitability by preparing margin reporting, tracking cost-saving efforts, and following progress on new product initiatives.

- Review inventory activity and variance trends while supporting cycle count controls and inventory accuracy efforts.

- Carry out additional accounting and analytical assignments as needed to support business objectives. Requirements - Experience in staff accounting, preferably within a manufacturing environment.

- Working knowledge of general ledger processes, journal entry preparation, and account reconciliation.

- Background in fixed asset accounting and maintaining accurate asset records.

- Familiarity with corporate tax-related accounting concepts and recurring expense recognition.

- Understanding of standard costing, product costing, and margin analysis.

- Ability to analyze inventory transactions, investigate variances, and support inventory control activities.

- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage deadlines and maintain accuracy in financial data.
